She’s also being stalked and during her meet with Master J, someone takes a shot at her, turns the master in to professional bodyguard Jack Cole, and he takes it upon himself to keep her safe. But for me Jack just pushed too much and too hard.īut before all of that, Morgan hosts a sex talk show and she’s meeting Master J to bone up on the BDSM lifestyle which is the subject of her next show. Okay, I know it’s an erotic book, the toys, the ties, the whatever are part of that. What turned me off is the way Jack more or less pushes his wicked lifestyle onto Morgan. The plot is intriguing, as are the secondary characters. I like the characters, Morgan and Jack, just fine, the sexual tension between them is edgy and sensual. This book didn’t work for me nearly as well as Decadent. But somewhere along the way, I figured wrong. I figured I’d like this one just as well. I’ve been wanting to read this book for a while, especially after I read and reviewed my first Shayla Black, Decadent, last year and really liked it. The story got lost in trying too hard to be progressive in its messaging, to the point where the messages and attempted themes are over explained, and the reader isn't given enough credit to pick up on them on their own. It felt like someone trying too hard at conveying a message, rather than letting the nuances of the story do so instead. I hate when the story suffers as a result of it. I like when authors have something they want to say in their writing. With lives at risk, can Miles step up and be a hero? We all bow in reverence to the bard of Avon. Born in Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire in 1564, Shakespeare wrote 38 plays, 154 sonnets and many other poems before his death in 1616. From television to film, theatre to classic music the simple breadth and variety of the events being held in his honour speak to magnitiude of his influence. This year marks the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death an event which has brought an appreciation to all edges of the cultural sphere. We are talking of no one else other than the Father of English Drama William Shakespeare. To how we profess our love to each other, and to how we express our grief his influence pervades so much in our lives, because his work has become so timeless in its ability to touch upon human nature. On 23 April, 1616, a man died, but with his death a legacy was born one which proved so essential not only to the development of drama and literature, but to language, to thoughts and ideas. Gratifyingly his hair was terrible, short at the back and sides, but with an awful little quiff at the front. There was something feline about him: eyebrows fine, mouth pouty in a self-conscious way, lips a shade too dark and full, but dry and chapped now, and rouged with Bulgarian red wine. A fine nose, slightly shiny with grease, and dark skin beneath the eyes that looked almost bruised, a badge of honour from all the smoking and late nights spent deliberately losing at strip poker with girls from Bedales. He had one of those faces where you were aware of the bones beneath the skin, as if even his bare skull would be attractive. Emma Morley thought 'handsome' a silly, nineteenth-century word, but there really was no other word for it, except perhaps 'beautiful'. Eyes closed, the cigarette glued languidly to his lower lip, the dawn light warming the side of his face through the red filter of the curtains, he had the knack of looking perpetually posed for a photograph. She peered up at him through her fringe as he leant against the cheap buttoned vinyl headboard and even without her spectacles on it was clear why he might want to stay exactly this way.
